Description:

Damage Symptoms:

• Leaves turn yellow and curl up as aphids suck sap from the plant.
• The excretion of honeydew by aphids leads to the development of sooty mould.
• Severe infestations weaken the plant and stunt its growth.
• Aphids also act as vectors for viral diseases.

Preventive Measures:

• Install sticky traps in the field.
• Place reflective mulches in the field.

Control Measures:

• Apply neem oil (3%).
• Apply imidacloprid (0.4 ml/l) or dimethoate (2 ml/l).
