Description:

  • Aphids are tiny insects that infest the aerial parts of the plant in large numbers.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Nymphs and adults suck sap from fenugreek leaves and other plant parts.
  • Curling and yellowing of leaves.
  • Aphids excrete honeydew, which leads to the growth of sooty mould, reducing photosynthesis.
  • Reduced plant vigour and stunted growth.
  • Heavy infestations can cause wilting and plant death.

Preventive Measures:

  • Use reflective mulches to repel aphids.
  • Install yellow sticky traps in the field.

Control Measures:

  • Apply neem oil at 5 ml/l.
  • Spray acetamiprid at 0.2 g/l or imidacloprid at 0.5 ml/l.
