Description:

  • This disease occurs mainly under moist and warm conditions.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Small, circular leaf spots with a grey centre appear on the leaves.
  • Spots become larger, coalesce, and form necrotic areas.
  • Leaves turn yellow and fall prematurely.
  • The plant's vigour decreases, leading to reduced yield.

Preventive Measures:

  • Crop rotation and field sanitation should be practised.
  • Overhead irrigation should be avoided to prevent the leaves from getting wet.

Control Measures:

  • Spray Mancozeb 2 g/l to stop the spread of the fungus.
  • Apply copper oxychloride 2.5 g/l when the disease appears in the initial stages of plant growth.
