Description:

  • Hot and dry weather conditions are favourable for the occurrence of this disease.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Black, sunken lesions can be observed on the roots and lower stems.
  • Cankers on the stem may spread upwards.
  • Leaves may wilt and drop from the plant.
  • Infected plants may wilt and break at the soil line.

Preventive Measures:

  • Avoid water stress by maintaining proper soil moisture.
  • Practice crop rotation with non-host crops.

Control Measures:

  • Drench soil with Carbendazim at 1 g/l.
