Description:

  • Damping off is a fungal disease that primarily affects seedlings, causing rotting of the stem and roots.

Damage  Symptoms:

  • Drumstick seedlings suddenly droop and then collapse at the base.
  • The stem appears water-soaked and dark at the soil line.
  • Affected plants have poor root development and may rot entirely.

Preventive Measures:

  • Maintain proper moisture and soil drainage.

Control Measures:

  • Drench the soil with copper oxychloride (2 g/l) at the first sign of disease.
