Description:

  • The disease is characterized by a high seedling mortality rate, mainly under densely sown nursery bed conditions.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Water-soaked lesions develop at the base of the seedlings.
  • Seedlings exhibit stunted or delayed growth.
  • This infestation results in seedling drop.

Preventive Measures:

  • Ensure soils are well-drained. Avoid waterlogging.

Control Measures:

  • Drench beds with metalaxyl at 1 g/l.
  • Treat seeds with captan at 2 g/kg before sowing.
