Description:

  • The flies hibernate during the winter months and become active in hot weather, breeding during the monsoon.

Damage Symptoms:

  • The larvae feed on the pulp inside the fruits.
  • Fruits become unfit for consumption and drop prematurely.
  • Older fruits show fewer symptoms, but upon opening, a mass of maggots can be found in the pulp.

Preventive Measures:

  • Install pheromone traps in the field.
  • Collect and destroy infested fallen fruits regularly.

Control Measures:

  • Apply cypermethrin.
