Description:

  • The fungus remains in the soil for several years.
  • Poor drainage and moist soils are favourable conditions for the occurrence of this disease.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Wilting of vines during hot days and recovering at night in the early stages.
  • Yellowing of older leaves is observed.
  • Browning and decay of vascular tissues in stems are observed.

Preventive Measures:

  • Treat the seeds with Trichoderma or fungicides like Thiram.
  • Avoid waterlogging.

Control Measures:

  • Soil drenching with Carbendazim or Thiophanate-Methyl.
  • Mix Trichoderma viride with water and drench the soil.
