Description

  • Warm weather and high soil moisture are favourable conditions for the occurrence of this disease, and it mostly occurs during the summer and early monsoon months.

Damage Symptoms

  • Yellowing and drooping of lower leaves, followed by similar symptoms in young leaves.
  • Infected tomato leaves wilt and fall off prematurely.
  • Dark brown discolouration of vascular tissues can be seen if the stems are cut open in infected tomato plants.
  • Eventually, plants wilt and die.

Preventive Measures

  • Follow deep summer ploughing.
  • Practice crop rotation.

Control Measures

  • Drench with Copper Oxychloride @ 2.5 g/l or Carbendazim @ 1 g/l.
