Description:

  • Red mite infestation occurs mainly in arid, hot weather conditions, especially during the months of March to May.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Small, reddish-brown spots appear on the leaves of the tomato plant. Later, the leaves turn yellow and drop.
  •  Fine webbing is often visible on the lower surface of the leaves.
  • This infestation leads to upward curling of the leaves, stunted growth, as well as poor quality and smaller-sized fruits.

Preventive Measures:

  •  Practice crop rotation.
  •  Grow trap crops like Marigold.

Control Measures:

  •  Foliar spray of sulfur dust at 2 g/l or abamectin at 0.5 ml/l.
