Description:

  • Red mite infestations primarily occur in the latter stages of plant growth during hot and dry conditions.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Yellowish or bronze patches appear on leaves. In severe cases, this leads to defoliation.
  • The characteristic symptom of red mites is the presence of fine webs on the underside of leaves.
  • Mite feeding causes the leaves to dry out and fall off.
  • Reduced plant growth results in smaller and malformed fruits.

Preventive Measures:

  • Keep the field free of weeds.
  • Avoid excessive use of nitrogen fertilizers.

Control Measures:

  • Spray dicofol at 0.05% or apply wettable sulfur.
