Description:

• Rust occurs during warm, humid conditions, especially in late summer.

Damage Symptoms:

• Initially, minute reddish-brown pustules appear on leaves, stems, and husks.
• In cases of severe infection, yellowing and early drying of leaves occur, reducing photosynthesis.
• Reduced plant vigour, smaller ears, and lower grain quality.
• Premature death of plants may occur in severely infected fields.

Preventive Measures:

• Practice crop rotation.

Control Measures:

• Apply Mancozeb or Propiconazole.
