Description:

  • The disease is transmitted by the Eriophyid mite Aceria cajani.
  • Dry, humid weather following rainfall are favourable conditions for the occurrence of this disease.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Initial symptoms include vein clearing on young leaves.
  • Leaves develop a characteristic light and dark green mosaic pattern.
  • In severe cases, leaves become smaller and cluster near the tip of the plant.
  • Affected plants are stunted and fail to produce pods.
  • If pods form, the seeds are often small, shrivelled, and immature.

Preventive Measures:

  • Remove infected plants from the field up to 40 days after sowing.

Control Measures:

  • Spray Dicofol (3 ml) or Sulphur (3 g) per litre of water.
