Description:

  • The adult is a minute insect measuring about 0.5 mm in length, with white or greyish wings, a yellowish body, and red, medially constricted eyes.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Both nymphs and adults suck sap from the underside of leaves.
  • Yellowing, downward curling, and drying of the leaves can be observed.
  • Whiteflies excrete honeydew, which results in sooty mould growth, leading to reduced photosynthesis.

Preventive Measures:

  • Install sticky traps in the field.

Control Measures:

  • Spray Acetamiprid or Imidacloprid.
