Description:

  • Warm, humid conditions are favourable for the occurrence of bacterial leaf spot disease.
  • The disease affects the plant at all stages, causing up to 30% yield loss.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Small, dark, water-soaked lesions appear on leaves. They gradually enlarge and turn into brownish spots with a yellow halo around them.
  • Later, defoliation occurs.
  • Spots also develop on stems and fruits.
  • Small, raised, rough lesions form on fruit skin, making them unsuitable for market sale.

Preventive Measures:

  • Avoid overhead irrigation.
  • Remove and destroy infected plant parts.

Control Measures:

  • Apply copper hydroxide or copper oxychloride.
