Description

  • Warm and humid conditions are favourable for the occurrence of this disease.

Damage Symptoms

  • Initially, young tomato leaves wilt during the day and regain turgidity at night.
  • As the disease progresses, leaves wilt, turn brown, and dry out.
  • Vascular browning can be observed in the cross-section of the stem near the base.
  • Bacterial ooze can be seen if the affected stem is cut.
  • The affected plants collapse and die.

Preventive Measures

  • Practice crop rotation with non-solanaceous crops.
  • Avoid waterlogging and maintain proper drainage.

Control Measures

  • Drench with Copper Oxychloride.
