Description:

  • Warm, dry climates are suitable for jassid infestations.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Leaves turn yellow, showing distinct V-shaped yellowing at the tips and curling upwards.
  • The leaf margin turns brown and then necrotic, causing leaf drop.
  • Stunted growth of the plant, reduction in flowering, and poor fruit set development.
  • Burning patches, called "hopper burn," can be seen in the field, caused by jassids.

Preventive Measures:

  • Practice crop rotation.
  • Install sticky traps in the field.

Control Measures:

  • Spray imidacloprid at 0.3 ml/l.
  • Spray neem oil during light infestations.
