Description:

  • Fruit borer is the key pest during the flowering and fruiting stages of the chilli plant.
  • Fruit borer is active from March to May.

Damage Symptoms:

  • The larvae enter the fruit and feed on the inside of the fruit.
  • Small holes appear on the fruits.
  • Flowers start to drop early, resulting in fewer fruits.
  • Infected fruits cannot be sold in the market due to reduced quality.

Preventive Measures:

  • Use pheromone traps to detect early infestation.

Control Measures:

  • Spray spinosad 0.2 ml/l or neem oil 1% during the early stages of infestation.
  • Use chlorantraniliprole at 0.3 ml/l on heavily infested plants.
