Description:

Damage Symptoms:

  • White spots of chlorosis on leaves.
  • Leaves become yellow and curled.
  • Honeydew secretion causes black sooty mold on the surface of the leaves.
  • Severe infestation causes premature defoliation and poor fruit setting.

Preventive Measures:

  • Yellow sticky traps can be placed inside and outside the field. The yellow traps will trap and give an estimate of the whitefly incidence.

Control Measures:

  • Spray imidacloprid 0.5 ml/l at the initial stage of infestation.
  • Neem oil spray (1%) can also be applied regularly.
